Carol Ann Hunt, 69, of Anderson, passed away August 14, 2016 at her residence.
In Tulsa, Oklahoma, July 24, 1947, Carol was the first child born to James Clarence and Betty Frances Thornell Hunt. Both her parents and her beloved brother, William Bennett Hunt predeceased her.
During her early childhood, she and her parents relocated to Indiana. She attended school in Connersville where she was active in many organizations and activities. She was particularly proud of being the high school’s head majorette, Miss Fayette County and a member of the National Honor Society. She was an early admissions honor student at DePauw University and graduated from Indiana University with steady honors on the Dean’s List. After graduation, she returned to Tulsa where she was the first female west of the Mississippi hired in a management consulting capacity by a Big 8 accounting firm.
After retirement she developed a love for the basset hound and studied it intently. She became active in breeding and showing these wonderful creatures under the Bodacious Bassets Kennel name. She served as Secretary of the Anderson Kennel Club, Board member of the Basset Hound Club of America (BHCA) and President of the Basset Hound Club of Central Indiana. For fourteen years, she was editor of the internationally published “Tally-Ho” magazine, the official publication of the BHCA.
Additionally, Carol was past Secretary of the Kikthawenund DAR Chapter and a member of the Central Christian Church.
She is survived by her aunt, Gloria Mae Thornell Ferguson; cousin and best friend, Terry Lynne Moore, who assisted Carol throughout her many health crises; a niece and nephew and many cousins.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. on Friday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Rev. Rick Vale officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis.
Visitation will be 11:00-1:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
