Byron Wayne Johnson, 83, formerly of Anderson, passed away October 30, 2014 at the Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware.
He was born on December 7, 1930, the son of the late William and Blanche Johnson in Muncie, Indiana and had resided in Anderson most of his life.
Wayne graduated from Muncie Central High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired from Delco Remy in 1996 after 46 years of service.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Marie Johnson and son David Johnson.
He is survived by his son, Mark (wife, Michelle) Johnson of Newark, DE; his daughter, Kathy (husband, Steve) Paro of Owego, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Dr. Michael (wife, Natalie) Johnson of Birmingham, AL.; Kimberly (husband, Karl) Jung of Birmingham, AL. and Michelle Luttman of Denver, CO; five great grandchildren, Nicholas, Adriana, and Lucas Johnson,Noah and Luke Jung all of Birminghan, AL; sister-in-law, Annette (husband, Bernard) Staggenburg of Anderson; and two nieces, Jennifer Staggenburg of Wabash, IN. and Susan Stuart of Columbus, OH.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday November 6, 2014, 10am at St. Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Mark Walter officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday November 5, 2014 from 4pm until 7pm at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory.
