Bruce Wood

Former Anderson resident, Bruce Wood, 81, Boynton Beach, FL, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2015, at J. F. K. Medical Center in West Palm Beach following a brief illness.

He was born on March 5, 1934, in Tipton, Indiana to Morris and Mary (Knapp) Wood.

He graduated from Tipton High School. And he served in the U. S. Army.

Bruce retired as a store manager from Payless in Anderson.

He was a member of the South Meridian Church of God in Anderson.

He is survived by two sons, Doug (wife, Kelly) Wood of Lapel and Brian (wife, Penni) Wood of Osgood; three grandchildren, Monte Wood of Arizona and Danielle and Brandon Wood of Lapel; one great-grandson, Ivan Wood of Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife whom he married October 2, 1955, Joan Mary (Brown) Wood; five brothers, Jim, Walter, Victor, Mike, and Richard Wood; and four sisters, Sandy Siders, Jean Baxter, Jackie Jackson, and Patricia Boyd .

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, January 9, 2016, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Saturday, January 9, 2016, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association.
