Brett "The Jet" Marcum

Brett “The Jet” Marcum, 47, of Sylva, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday August 1, 2024. He was born on November 5, 1976, in Shelbyville, Indiana to the late George and Connie (Sweet) Marcum.

Brett was an amazing mechanic and owned his own shop. He could fix just about anything that had an engine. He loved going fast, if it had an engine and wheels, he would make it fly. Back in his younger days he raced at Mt. Lawn Speedway with his family. It was at Mt. Lawn where he earned the nick name Brett “The Jet” Marcum. The thing he loved most was his family, he had a heart of gold that he wore on his sleeve. He always made sure his family knew he loved them no matter where his road led him.

Brett is survived by his children, Dean and Luke Marcum; siblings, Teresa (Keith) Miller, Cheryl (Richard) Evans, Chris Kuhn, Keri (Dusin Coomer) Coates, Traci (Bill) Thompson, and William Marcum; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Connie Marcum; grandparents Roy and Odean Sweet, and his niece Kiera Marcum.

A visitation will be held August 24,2024 1pm-3pm at Bozell funeral homes-Condo Chapel, 130 S. Main Street, Wilkinson, IN, 46186. Following visitation there will be a graveside service at Little Blue River Friends Cemetery, 122 N. 1000 W., Morristown. IN, 46161
