Bret E. Blockson

Bret E. Blockson, 46, of Houston, Texas, passed away September 18, 2017 at his home after a brief illness. He was born October 24, 1970 in Anderson, the much loved son of Ed and Lynn (Russell) Blockson. He was a graduate of Highland High School and attended Marian College. He had previously worked for Value Jet and Continental Airlines as a flight attendant and more currently for Reladyne. He loved visiting and eating out with family and friends and vacationing over holidays in Galveston, Texas. He loved cooking using family recipes and knew the best restaurants in Houston to take family when they visited. He also worked with cat rescue in Houston. Survivors include his loving and kind husband, Javier Castro; his parents, Ed and Lynn Blockson; aunts, Patti (husband, Jeff) Mahoney, Jan (husband, Ted) Hoppes and Teresa (husband, Don) Pool; uncle, Fletcher Lamkin; special friend, Chris Nelson; his very special and loved rescue cats, Dixie and Precious and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jay Blockson and grandparents, Rita and Rolla Russell and Anna and Lillard Blockson; aunt, Penny Lamkin and uncle, Don Blockson. Cremation will take place per his wishes with a private family service and burial in Maplewood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society or the Animal Protection League. Arrangements are being handled by Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory.
