Brenda E. Weinzapfel, 82, of Anderson passed away on July 19, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Brenda was born on July 18, 1942, in Indianapolis to the late Otis and Dolores (Elliott) Bradway. She was married to Dr. Richard Weinzapfel who proceeded her in death in 2021.
While attending New Castle Chrysler High School (class of ’60), Brenda enjoyed cheerleading, competing in beauty pageants, and was crowned Miss Henry County. After graduating high school, she went on to attend Indiana University. Brenda worked as an office manager/assistant alongside her husband at his pediatric dental practice for over 50 years. She was an avid golfer and longtime member of Edgewood Country Club and Anderson Country Club. She enjoyed her time as secretary of the Anderson High School Basketball Booster Club and was a devoted supporter of the APD K-9 Unit. She also spent time volunteering at Community Hospital and was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Psi Iota Xi sorority. Brenda had a passion for fashion, loved baking, adored her two cats, and most importantly, cherished her time spent with family and friends.
Brenda will be dearly missed by her children, Angie (Bob) Mortensen and John Hay; stepchildren Karen (Jeff) Welch, Susan McCord, Steve (Jennifer) Weinzapfel, David (Tiffany) Weinzapfel, and Janie Miller; two sisters Sharon (Jim) Vanderbeck and Julia Peyton; seven grandchildren Kim, Zack, Natalie, and Jake Heiniger, Jack, Joe, and Jasmine Hay; and ten step grandchildren Spencer and Peyton McCord, Scott and Sydney Weinzapfel, Dane and Sam Weinzapfel, Brandon and JJ Welch, Jackson and Maggie Miller; nieces Patricia Foster and Paula (Jim) Anderson, Carol Syrus, and preceded in death by nephew Brad Vanderbeck.
