Brenda J. Whetsel

Brenda J. Whetsel, 63, Lapel, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2010, at Community Hospital of Anderson following an extended illness.
She was born on August 29, 1947, in Anderson, Indiana to Richard and Mildred (Turner) Anderson.
She graduated from Lapel High School in 1965.
Brenda was formerly a member of the Lapel Legion Auxilary; the Lapel American War Mothers; and was active in breast cancer awareness.
She is survived by one son, Rusty (wife, Alecia) Whetsel of Lapel; her mother, Mildred (husband, Tom) Coverdale of Lapel; one brother, Buzz (wife, Marcia) Anderson of Anderson; one nephew, Andy (wife, Ivonne) Anderson of Highland; two granddaughters, Corrie and Bailey Blackford; and one grandson, Trey Orbik.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Monday, October 4, 2010, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Todd Crowder officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm Sunday, October 3, 2010, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lapel American Legion Auxiliary Scholarship Fund.
