Brad L. Scott

Brad L. Scott, 57, Lapel, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2015, at his home. He was born on June 26, 1957, in Rushville, Indiana to Harold and Donna (Carpenter) Scott. He graduated from Lawrenceburg High School in 1975 and received a Bachelors Degree in music education from the University of Indianapolis and a Masters Degree from Anderson University. Brad had been the band director at Shakamak High School and Lawrenceburg High School then the choir director at Elwood Middle School and currently at Frankton Jr./Sr. High School. He was a member of the Ford Street United Methodist where he sang in the choir and played bass guitar in the praise band. He enjoyed keeping score and announcing at Frankton Eagles sporting events and was admired by the Frankton school community and fellow staff members. He was a music teacher who was much loved and looked up to by his students. Brad was a loved son, brother, and uncle. He loved singing with his brothers and sisters-in-law and was an avid fan of the Cincinnatti Reds and the Indianapolis Colts He is survived by his father, Rev. Harold Scott of Fishersburg; two brothers, Greg (wife, Gay) Scott of Lapel and Kurt (wife, Patty) Scott of Greencastle; two nieces, Holly (husband, Matthew) Kraick of Lebanon, OH, and Amy (husband, Terry) Thrift of Yulee, FL; one nephew, Trent Scott of Greencastle; and three great-nephews, A. J. and Lincoln Kraick, and Levi Thrift. He was preceded in death by his mother. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at Ford Street United Methodist Church in Lapel with Pastor Stephen Holdzkom officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Ford Street United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 626, Lapel, Indiana 46051-0626.
