Bonnie Mae Skelton, 81, a lifelong resident of Anderson, died peacefully, May 21, 2018, following a year-long courageous battle with post-surgical complication. Bonnie was born in Anderson on September 13, 1936. She was owner and operator of Elite Beauty Salon and co-owner of A & A Heating and Air Service. She was a member of the Indiana Zeta Chapter of Phi Sigma Alpha Sorority and serve as the 1997-1998 Vice President. She was an avid football and NASCAR fan, and enjoyed cooking for her family and fishing. Bonnie had a strong faith which sustained her through many trials. She was a great encourager who will be greatly missed. Bonnie, a member of Madison Park Church, was a devoted mother of three children, Jeff (Elaine) Skelton, Bonita Taylor and Rhonda (Ron) Skelton Cantrell; grandmother of 6; and a great-grandmother of 8. She is also survived by a sister, Jo Ann Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years in 2002, Rex Skelton; and Pat Stephenson, a childhood friend whom she reunited with and was engaged to for 15 years. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, with Pastor Tom Malbone officiating. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service.
