Mrs. Bonnie M. Mckinsey

Bonnie M. McKinsey, 89, was welcomed into Heaven’s Gate on Friday December 6, 2019, after a full and joyful life. She was born in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania on June 27, 1930 to the late Roy W. and Velda (Young) Kerry. At age 10 Bonnie accepted Jesus into her heart at Whitehall Campground. After graduating from Ellwood City High School, she fulfilled her dream of attending Anderson College where she began forging many life-long friendships while actively engaged in Church of God fellowship. Bonnie resided in Anderson beyond her time in college, working earnestly in a variety of occupations including with Guide Lamp, Nicholson File and Eavey’s Market. During that time she was also introduced to her future husband, Donald McKinsey. They married in 1957 and he survives her. Throughout her life Bonnie would refresh her heart with Christ by playing hymns on the piano and, during her younger days, through volunteer church work including Sunday school teacher and congregation song leader. Bonnie’s devotion to the Lord and her family sustained her through all seasons. Her faith in scriptures like Philippians 4:13 inspired many. Bonnie is also survived by son, Barry (Kristina) McKinsey of Greenfield; two daughters, Tawnya Ashley (Carlo Moore) and Denise Bishop (Daniel Stone), both of Anderson; 4 grandchildren, Sharla (Jordan) Matthews, Benjamin (JoAnna) Ashley, Kenda McKinsey and Jeremiah ‘Jace’ Ashley; 5 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Vernon (Michele) Kerry and Roy E. (NoraLee) Kerry; one sister, Wanda (Clifford) Garra; two sisters-in-law, Brenda (Herbert, Jr) Gascho and Linda Jones; and extended family including brothers and sisters in Christ. She was preceded in death by son, Cory Ross McKinsey; two brothers, Robert Kerry and Gail Kerry; two sisters, Elsie Moore and Lynda Kerry; two nieces, Jessica Kerry and Crista “Jeanine” Walker; and nephew, Gregory S. Davis. Services will be at 11:00 am Saturday, December 14 at Condo & St.Pierre Service & Crematory, with Pastor Steve DeLisle officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 pm Friday at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the services. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial donation to the American Heart Association.
