Bobby Lee Cain, 78, Lapel, passed away Monday, March 30, 2009, at Rawlins House in Pendleton following a brief illness.
He was born on December 20, 1930, in Petersburg, Indiana to Opel and Cecile (Wiscarver) Cain.
He graduated from Petersburg High School in 1947 and he served in the U. S. Navy.
Bobby retired in 1987 from Berns Construction Company in Indianapolis after 37 years of employment.
He was a member of Lapel Masonic Lodge No. 625; and Lapel American Legion Post 212.
He is survived by two daughters, Tonja (husband, Victor) Kinser, and Pamela (husband, George) Penwell both of Lapel; two grandchildren, Heather (husband, Sean) Hosfield of Fishers, and Molly Penwell of Lapel; 3 step-grandchildren, Greg Kinser of Chicago,IL, Melissa Penwell of Noblesville, and Michelle Penwell of Lapel; two great-grandchildren, Holly and Andrew Hosfield; two step-great-grandchildren, Reaghan Hollcraft, and Owen Sexton; one brother, Billy Cain of Indianapolis; and one sister, Garnet (husband, Lowell) Charles of Greenwood.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lorna Joy (Chappell) Cain; and a brother, Marion Cain.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, April 4, 2009, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Gerald Burnett officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel where the Lapel American Legion will conduct military graveside rites.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, April 3, 2009, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. A Masonic memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 pm by the Lapel Masonic Lodge.
