Billy K. Heffernan

Billy K. Heffernan, 82, Anderson, passed away April 13, 2016, at his residence after brief illness.

He was born January 5, 1934, in Anderson, the son of the late James and Alpha Heffernan. Billy was a 1952 graduate of Markleville High School and a member of the Bible Tabernacle Church in Muncie; he served in the US Air Force and retired in 1992 from Delco-Remy after 42 years.

He survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty “JoAnn” Heffernan of Anderson, four children, Bruce B. Heffernan of Markleville, Kevin (Esta) Heffernan of Anderson, Dwight (Melissa) Heffernan of Rossville and Jill (John) Smoll of Elida, Ohio; a brother, Jack (Mary) Heffernan of Muncie; eleven grandchildren, Leah Cottrell, Daniel Heffernan, Zachary Heffernan, Mathew Heffernan, Brittany Smith, Samuel Heffernan, Michaela Heffernan, Aaron Smoll, Solomon Heffernan, Johanna Smoll, Joshua Smoll, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, James Heffernan, Jr.

Service will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Rev. Ed Hunter, Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the VFW Post #266.

Friends may call from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home.
