Bill French, 73, Lapel, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2007, at Coventry Meadows in Fort Wayne following a brief illness.
He was born on December 10, 1933, in Sebastopol, Mississippi to James and Onie (Ware) French.
He graduated from Sebastapol High School in 1951 and received an associates degree from East Central Community College. He received a bachelors degree from Mississippi State University and a masters degree from Ball State University.
Bill retired in 1996 from Lapel Junior/Senior High School after 41 years of employment.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and the Lapel Optimist Club. He was an avid fisherman.
He is survived by one daughter, Joy (husband, Keith) Ridenour of Fort Wayne; one sister, Judy (husband, Wayne) Herrington of Union, MS; one granddaughter, Jennifer Ridenour; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by, his parents; his wives, Iris Faye (Barker) French, and Jeannine (Littiken) French; and one brother, Nelie "Buck" French.
Funeral will be held at 1:30 pm Sunday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Evan Lash officiating, Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Saturday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
