Beverly Dempsey Wilson

Beverly Dempsey Wilson, 75, of Pendleton passed away on June 18th, 2021 surrounded by those who cherished her most dear. Shortly before leaving this world, she sent her family a beautiful rainbow, assuring them that she was ready for her next adventure. She undoubtedly entered Heaven with a smile on her face, a joke or two about how her departure was a bit premature (attributed to Glioblastoma brain cancer), and then probably asked where the garden section was so she could get to planting and growing her flowers. Beverly was born May 16th, 1946 in Anderson to Wilbur and Oval Dempsey. She was one of six girls. She graduated from Markleville High School and then went on to achieve a degree from Ball State University. Beverly spent the majority of her career as an Executive Assistant for Guide Corporation, retiring in 2006. If you knew Beverly, her passions were evident. She loved gardening and always surrounded herself with flowers and the beauties of nature. She loved throwing seeds in the ground and seeing just what popped up! Beverly could spend hours tending to her flowers and immersing herself in their care and beauty. She also loved antiquing, enjoying the thrill of the hunt as well as reselling in her antique booths in Pendleton. She adored her antiquing community and the friendships she made over the years. Beverly did love bowling and enjoyed her league friends and a little competition too. She valued her “Class of ’64 lifelong friends and enjoyed socializing during their monthly breakfast meet ups. She also loved shopping and chocolate, separate or simultaneous. ???? In addition, Beverly loved a good adventure and had enjoyed many trips to Florida and the West. Whether camping or rafting down a river in Colorado, exploring Grand Tetons and Yellowstone, climbing the steps of Mesa Verde’s Cliff Palace, or walking the beaches of Oregon or Florida, she ALWAYS said yes to new experiences as long as they were with those she loved! That said, her family was her greatest love and treasure. Beverly was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother (Nanny), great grandmother, and well…friend. She was generous in nature and kind in spirit, always giving of herself to others of whom she loved dearly. You could share anything with her and know the advice you received was sound and sincere. When times were tough, she would say “Keep your chin up” and you knew she was there to support you through thick and thin. She would tell you how it is and how she thought it should be which we appreciated about her (most of the time). Lastly, Beverly would make you laugh and smile. Even after her diagnosis, she seized every opportunity to make family, friends, and strangers laugh and know just how much they were appreciated. Her goal was to make the world a better place for those around her and she certainly delivered on that from start to finish. The void she leaves behind is vast but the love, laughter, and wisdom she shared while here will be forever remembered and will live on through her family and friends for generations to come. Beverly is survived by her daughters Niki (Jim) Estes of Pendleton, Veronika (Kyle) Hunter Hall of Colorado, and Ruthanne (Pete) Van Baalen of Ft. Wayne; grandchildren Jameson (Kelsi) Estes, Jackson (Becca) Estes, Joe Estes, Ty Hall, Lia Hall, Blake Hall, and Eric Van Baalen; great grandchildren Ellie Estes and Molly Estes; sisters Saundra (Dwight) Hess, Wilma (Bob) Rhoads, Linda (Dick) Stacy, and Janice (Nancy) Dempsey; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Wilbur and Oval Dempsey, husband Charlie Wilson, sister Carolyn Dempsey, and granddaughter Ari Hall. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Brown- Butz- Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, Indiana 46013. Funeral services will follow on Friday at 11:00am at the funeral home with an immediate graveside gathering at Grovelawn Cemetery in Pendleton. The service will be officiated by Michael Canada. If you knew Beverly, you know flowers are welcome. She also had a generous and giving nature so donations to charities that help others in her honor would also be a lovely tribute to this kind and giving soul. Beverly had a verse hanging in her home and she would most certainly want everyone to know it: I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. Philippians 4:13. She would want all who loved her to remember that so “Chin up” and know that she is residing in the presence of the Lord, those she had loved and lost, and the gardens of God himself.
