Betty M. Guenthenspberger, 92, Anderson, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at her residence. She was born November 5, 1924 in Orestes, the daughter of the late Ernest and Ida (Canterbury) Palmer, and was a lifelong Anderson resident. Betty was a homemaker and the co-owner of the Hide-A-Way Inn. She attended the Ovid Community Church and Wesley Free Methodist Church. She enjoyed bingo, reading, crossword puzzles, visiting with friends and driving. Once a month she met with the Markleville Class of 1944 luncheon group. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Guenthenspberger; son, Gary A. Gibson; brothers, Ernie Palmer, Gilbert Palmer and Johnnie Ray Palmer; and dogs, Skeeter and Tammie. Betty is survived by her children, Jeannie (George “Bud”) Perry of Anderson, Darlene Abston of Anderson, C. Dale (Tina) Gibson of Wilkinson, Dennis (Teresa) Gibson of Middletown and Betty Diane Gibson of Anderson; grandchildren, Stacey (Celeste) Hoyle-Purdue, Troy (Emily) Hoyle, Chris (Molly) Hoyle, Carmen (Brian) Lagarde, Jody (Scott) Meredith, Trinton Gibson, Atlanta Gibson, Jeramy (Stacy) Gibson, Kimala Gibson, Chris (Mandy) Gibson, Carrie Gibson, Johnathan (Heather) Gibson, Nick (Erica) Gibson;great-grandchildren, Josh, Billy, Michaela, Braeden, Brooke (Juan), Brandon (Mindi), Drayven, Christian, Gracie, Hanna (Jacob), Jason, Dakota, Christopher, Kylie, Cole, Devan, Caden, Brycen, P.J. and Ryan; great-great-grandchildren Mackenzee, Addison, Kaidin, Gage and Cambree; several nieces and nephews; and her loving dog, Annabelle. All who knew her will miss her mischievous nature, wonderful laughter and strong independence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00a.m. Saturday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Pastor Marc Adams officiating. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 – 8:00p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Sheila Palmer-Wagner, her niece, Great Lakes Hospice and all others, too numerous to mention, for their wonderful service and assistance with Betty’s care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protection League of Anderson or the Madison County Humane Society.
