Betty Lee Keffer

Betty Lee Keffer, 82, Lapel, passed away Sunday at her home. She was born on August 25, 1929, in Greentown, Indiana to Harry and Frauline (Lyons) Miller. Betty had been an in-home caregiver for many years. She loved watching NASCAR and old movies, especially with John Wayne. She also was an avid gardener and loved to shop and spend time with family and friends She is survived by her children, Kim (Bruce) Wolfe, Dan Keffer, Carol Dehart, and Barry (Teresa) Retherford all of Lapel; six grandchildren, Shonda Jones (Chuck Phillips), Mark Jones (Heather Fletcher), Branson Retherford, Kayley Retherford, Dylan Canter, and Ian Howell; 12 great-grandchildren, Nathan, Kean, Cassy, Krista, Destiny, Brooke, Cody, Cory, Alicia (Moo), Austin, Kalie, and Taylor; three-great-great grandchildren, Kylin, Xabrien, and Trevor; sister-in-law, Inez Palmer of Pendleton; nephew, Rodney Miller of Greentown; and special family and friends, Glenn (wife, Tina), Tony (wife, Paula), Brad (Tammy), Jamie (Stan) Christie (Joe), Brian, Richie, Rainea, Mitchell, Melissa, Vickie, Kelly, Larry, Michelle, and Tom B. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ethan Allen Keffer; and siblings, Patty Joanne, Dick, Jackie, Susie, and Nicki; and a nephew, Ed Helterbrand. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm Thursday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Chaplain Rob Mifflin officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Community Hospice.
