Betty L. Rector

Betty L. Rector passed away peacefully, in her home on Sunday, July 23, 2023. Betty was born in Burkesville, KY on January 12, 1950, to Jim and Rachel (McIntyre) Graham. She was born into a big family, being the 6^th of 8 children. They moved to Anderson when she was very young, but this is where she was raised. Betty was 17 when she met her first love, Jr. Johnson, and they went on to have 4 children.

Betty is survived by her children, Sherry, Terri, Sheila, and Ashley Johnson; grandchildren, Tiffany Fuller, Chelsea Hoover, Hailey Carr, Cheyana Carr, Rachel Johnson, Daylyn Johnson, and Mya Allen; 10 great-grandchildren, whom she adored greatly; sister-in-law, Lea Graham; and many nieces and nephews.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Gene, Ronnie, Leon, and Randall; sisters, Ruby Robertson, Wanda Vaughn, and Ruth Carr; son, Timothy Johnson; grandson, Jason Fuller; and special friend, Tommy Brummett.

Betty worked at Hoosier Park as a bartender for 23 years. She spent her entire life waitressing and working in the service industry, but she never complained and loved working with people. In her spare time, she enjoyed being with friends and listening to the band, Nuthin Fancy, with Rick Copeland and band members. Betty was the life of the party and brought joy to everyone she met.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Betty’s caregivers, Sarah Roberts and Kara Butler.

The visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, 515 E. 53^rd St., Anderson 46013. Another visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Friday, July 28, 2023, at the funeral home. The service will begin at 12 p.m. on Friday. Burial will take place in East Maplewood Cemetery. All memorial contributions in Betty’s name may be gifted to Breast Cancer Awareness.
