Betty J. Watson, 91, Pendleton, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at her farm home where she resided for 70 years. She was born on July 23, 1921, in Hancock County, Indiana to Clarence and Amy (Edwards) Ward. She graduated from Fortville High School in 1939. Betty had been employed at Saint John's Hospital and Conner Prairie Settlement but was mainly a farm wife. She was active in 4-H and was an avid quilter. She is survived by four children, Steve (wife, Jeannie) Watson, Nicki Davis (Mike), Randy (wife, Paula) Watson, and Tom (wife, Pam) Watson all of Pendleton; sixteen grandchildren; and twenty-six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 43 years, Robert Watson; a brother, Francis Ward; and two granddaughters. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with the family officiating. Burial will follow in Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. The family would like to thank the St. Vincent Hospice of Anderson and especially Shellie Davis for their kind care of their mother. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
