On July 13, 2023, Betty J. Clarkson, 96 was called home by her Lord and Savior. She had been a resident of Rawlins Home Health and Living Community since December of 2015.
Born Betty Jane Snapp September 14, 1926 in Springfield, Ohio to Lenna M. and Clarence O. Snapp, she became a resident of Anderson, Indiana in 1942 and remained so for most of her life.
She graduated from Anderson High School in 1944 and later married Edward L. Clarkson also of Anderson. Together they raised four children in the Anderson area and also Eden, Idaho. Places of employment included Community Hospital in Anderson, Ore-Ida in Burley, Idaho, Royal Oaks Mobile Home Park in Anderson, and Morgan Drive-Away of Elkhart, where she and Ed delivered RVs from the factory to dealers throughout the lower 48, traveling many miles and enjoying many friendships along the way. She became a member of Christ Lutheran Church in 1942 and remained forever faithful, coaching girl’s volleyball, bowling on the church league, teaching Sunday School at Camp Perkins in Stanley, Idaho and as a member of the LWML.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 65 years, Edward L., her sons, Michael L. and Dustin R.She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia L. Harris (Brian) of Idaho, Amalee J. Chambers, and Kathryn M. Clarkson (Dusty) of Pendleton; grandchildren, Keri (Mike) Thomas, Brett (Misty) Clarkson, Brady Clarkson, Shaun (Amanda) DeCamp, Shane (Kathleen) Clarkson, Jerilynn Gifford, Ray Penrod, and Justin Chambers; 13 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, Pendleton.
Family and friends will process from Lahm Chapel to Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery for a graveside service at 3:30 p.m. with Reverend John A. Jameson officiating.
