Bettie B Griffin, 86, of Anderson, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Rawlins House in Pendleton following an extended illness.
She was born on August 5, 1938, in Pocomoke City, Maryland to Walter Herbert and Eunice Rose (Taylor) Byrd. She retired as a custodian at Lapel Schools.
She was a member of Ford Street United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Lapel American Legion Post #212 Ladies Auxiliary and the Pendleton Amvets Post 26. She was a former member of the Solar O.E.S Chapter #604. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved to go camping.
Bettie is survived by two sons, Andy James (wife, Starla) Griffin of Anderson and Mark Griffin of Indianapolis; a daughter, Gail Springer of Lapel; six grandchildren, Jennifer Griffin, Nick Griffin, Molly Springer, Jon Springer, Anais Cusumone and Victoria Eccles; seven great-grandchildren, Sylas, Kaydence, William, Kyler, James, Jaice and Asher; a brother, David Byrd; a sister, Elsie Walker; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, James Anderson Griffin on April 10, 2014; her parents; a grandson, Scott M. Springer; two brothers, Randolph Byrd and Donald Byrd; and a sister, Peggy B. Taylor.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 24, 2025, at Ford Street United Methodist Church, 925 North Ford Street, Lapel, Indiana 46051 with Pastor Aaron Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Lapel.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Monday at the church.
