Bette L. Elijah, 92, Anderson, passed away peacefully with her children at her side on December 7, 2017 at her home after a brief illness. She was born May 11, 1925, in Fortville, the daughter of the late Alton and Helen (Duzan) Blueher. She lived most all of her life in Anderson and was a 1943 graduate of Anderson High School. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for over 70 years, Eagles Ladies and VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Bette is survived by her two children, Jerry (wife, Sue) Elijah and Susan (Husband, John) Rhule all of Anderson; three grandchildren, Eric (wife, Mollie) Elijah of Pendleton, Nathalie Rhule of San Diego, CA, and Haylie Rhule of Anderson; eight great grandchildren, Joanna Zumwalt, Jack A. Elijah, Grace Elijah, Wyatt Elijah, Elijah Rhule, Remington Humphries, Blaise Humphries and Chance Rhule; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Jack L. Elijah; her granddaughter, Nicole Brown and three brothers and one sister. The family would like to thank St. Vincent Hospice staff for all the wonderful care they gave to Bette. Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 11, 2017 at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Jim Tallman officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Anderson Animal Protection League.
