Bethel J. King, 82, Anderson, passed away January 12, 2016 at his residence after an extended illness.
He was born January 23, 1933, in Overton Co., TN, the son of the late Christopher and Ruthie (Bilbrey) King. He moved to Anderson in 1948 from Crossville, TN and worked 43 years at Delco-Remy retiring in 1994. Bethel was a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church, Fellowship Masonic Lodge #681, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis and Murat Shrine Temple. He was a Past President of the Madison County Shrine Club, Past President of the Murat Reception Club, Past President of the Desert Patrol, a member of the Murat Temple Royal Order of Jesters and The Q Club.
Bethel is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty J. King of Anderson; two sons, Gary W. (Theresa) King of FL and Gregory L. (Debra) King of AL; two grandchildren, Virginia “Jenny” King and Gregory L. (Abby) King, II and eight great grandchildren; a brother and sister, Barnis (Paula) King and Brenda Lee Vandergrift both of Anderson and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Pastor John Hackney officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home with a Masonic Memorial Rites conducted at 6:00 P.M.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
