Bethel G. Lennis, 84, of Anderson, passed away on July 4, 2023. Bethel was born on June 26 in Boomer, West Virginia to the late Kenneth and Essie (Mooney) Shock. Bethel was a member of the Degree of Pocahontas. She loved to cook, crochet, knit, and drive. She was also an avid Cincinnati Reds fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR.
Bethel will be dearly missed by her children, Charles Lennis, Nikki (Scott) Bates, and Teri Lennis; “adopted” son, James Stanley; grandchildren, Charles Lennis, Richard Lennis, Elizabeth Bates, and Joshua Bates; great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Donovan, Caiden, Lachland, Dominic, Brayden, Cameron, Aubrey, Chloe, Delilah, Allison, Aubree, Aiden, and Adalyn; great-great-grandchildren, Liam and Oliver; sisters, Marilyn (Darin) Keats and Judith (Rex) Koons; sister-in-law, Sylvia Shock; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends turned family, Beth (Joel) Leckron and Judi (Fritz) Gouker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Lennis; brothers, Robert, Richard (Donna), Kenny, Charles (Dorothy), and Roger Shock; sister, Sandra (Harry) Leisure; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Lilly; and brother-in-law, Robert Swann.
The visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, 46013. The funeral ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
