Bernadine C. Howell

Bernadine C. "Bernie" Howell, 83, Lapel, passed away Monday, August 27, 2018, at American Village in Indianapolis.
She was born on October 4, 1934, in Alexandria to Kenneth and Josephine (East) Collis.
Bernie was graduated in 1952 from Alexandria High School.
She retired from the former Guide Lamp division of General Motors in Anderson.
Bernie was a member of the Ford Street United Methodist Church in Lapel.
She is survived by four children, Monte (Jean) Howell, Kenneth (Dawn) Howell, Daniel (Mindy) Howell, and Tracy (Gary) Wells; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ernest Collis.
Bernie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Walter; and a sister Velva Shelton.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, August 30, 2018, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel with Pastor Glenn Knepp officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
