Barbra Gayle Doubman, 85, of Kennard, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2019, at her home following an extended illness. She was born November 26, 1933 in Globe, KY to the late Rome and Lula (Miller) Bocook. On May 11, 1956, Barbra married James Doubman at the Kennard Friends parsonage and together they raised their family. She was a homemaker and mother, but she also worked for many years at Good’s Candy in Kennard as a candymaker. She loved crocheting, quilting and reading. She was also a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed taking care of her family, as well as a great neighbor. She was a long-time faithful member of the Kennard Friends Church. Barbra is survived by her husband of sixty three years, Junior Doubman; sons, James Gordon (Darla) Doubman, Brett Lane (Kami) Doubman and Troy (Stacey) Doubman; grandchildren, Blaise Doubman, Damon Doubman, Kylie (Zane) Willis, Hannah (Rusty) Asberry, Seaver Doubman, Mary Ann (Clayton) Kornman, Maddison Doubman and Sawyer Doubman; great-grandchildren, Dawson Asberry, Maddon Willis and Emmerly Asberry; and sisters, Betty Jaynes of Orange, Texas, Judy Haines and Rose McGraw both of Knightstown. She was preceded in death at an early age by her parents. Also by her aunt and uncle, Gladys and Gordon Arnett, who raised her; and her brothers, Jim, Bob and Jack Bocook and Phil Arnett. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Kennard Friends Church with Pastor Steve Arnett officiating. Burial will follow at McCray Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or the Kennard Friends Church.
