Barbara Lavonne (Bodenhorn) Hall, 94, of Granada Hills, California, passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Dignity Health Hospital in Northridge, California after suffering a heart attack. She was born June 8, 1927 in Lapel, Indiana to Zona Juanita (Huffman) and Lowell Bliss Bodenhorn.
Barbara graduated from Lapel High School and attended college briefly at Miami of Ohio. Primarily a homemaker, she worked a few years as a secretary for her husband Bills law practice and book keeper for said practice and his "The Underground" recording studio.
She served on the Lawrence Schools PTA, was an active member of Lawrence United Methodist Church for 60 years, was treasurer of The Womens Dorcas Circle for many years, and was an avid supporter of the churchs Youth Corp receiving a "Certificate of Appreciation" for 11 years.
Her greatest joys were family, friends, musical events and opening up her home swimming pool to the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Youth Corp and neighbors any time they wanted without an invitation. Her artistic side found expression in accompanying her musical sons on piano. She also enjoyed her Canasta Club and loved bowling in a league.
Barbara is survived by her son, Larry (Barb); daughter-in-law Joan (Grubbs) Hall; daughter Jenny (Apple) Alig; brother Hubert (Barbara) Bodenhorn; four grandchildren Adam (Rebecca) Hall and Elizabeth (Matthew) Krause, children of Wayne and Joan Hall, and Christina Hall and Jonathan Hall, children of Larry and Barb Hall; great grandchildren Hunter Nichols, Annika Bullock, Joleona Hall, Jalen Hall, Leah Krause, Landon Krause; nephews Howard (Pam), Dean, and Duane Bodenhorn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband William of 71 years; and son Wayne.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Lawrence United Methodist Church, 5200 North Shadeland Avenue, Lawrence, Indiana with Rev. Joseph Johnson officiating. Burial of ashes will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel.
Visitation will be at 10:00 am at the church on Saturday.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital and The Lawrence United Methodist Church Youth Corp.
Hersberger-Bozell Funeral Home has been entrusted to the services for Barbara.
