Barbara Jean Richman

Barbara Jean (McCormick) Richman, 74, Anderson, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2024. She was born in Elizabethtown, Kentucky on June 2, 1949, to James and Doney (Wimpee) McCormick.  She attended Anderson High School and Ivy Tech State College, obtaining her Certified Nursing Assistant Degree.  Barbara was a CNA for over 36 years.  She loved helping people and was a friend to all that she knew.  After marrying James K. Johnson, they had two children, James K. Johnson II and Lori Gill. She enjoyed providing hearty delicious meals for her family and friends, especially her spaghetti.  When she wasn’t doting on her grandkids, she was spoiling her fur babies, Snuggles and Precious Baby.  Later on she went on to find the second love of her life in Melvin “Bud” Richman.  Barbara was a member of the New Life Christian Church.

She was survived by her children, James k. Johnson II, and Lori Gill; grandchildren, Natasha Voyles, Elizabeth Shinabarger (Ray Giangiordano), James L. Carson-Voyles, Travis Shinabarger, Grace Brown and Johnny Brown; great-grandchildren, Zander Mercer, Kaitlyn Mercer, Kah’lise Brown, Aaron Cooley, Ariynae Cooley, and Olivia Giangiordano; sister, Catherine Roberts and brothers, Lawrence Roberts, and Cooper McCormick.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin “Bud” Richman, her parents, and brothers, Kenny McCormick, Billy McCormick, Virgil Roberts, James McCormick; sisters, Clara Turner and Beverly “Debbie” Barth. Special friends, Sharon Reed, Myra, and her caregiver, Donna; her faithful furry companions, Snuggles and Precious Baby.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service and Crematory, 515 E 53^rd St., Anderson, IN.  An inurnment will take place at Saunders Cemetery at a later date.
