Barbara J. Sylvester

Barbara J. Sylvester, 73, Anderson, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2008, at Saint Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis following a brief illness.
She was born on December 26, 1934, in Anderson, Indiana to Carl and Sarah (Lawson) Marshall.
Barbara not only helped her husband with the family farm located east of Lapel, but was a 1963 graduate nurse of the School of Practical Nursing in Indianapolis and worked at several nursing homes, hospitals and for private physicians in the Anderson area.
She and her family are members of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel.
She is survived by three sons, D. Stephen Sylvester of Houston, TX, C. Kerry (wife, Tarri) Sylvester of Anderson, and Carl M. (wife, Cheri L.) Sylvester of Anderson; six grandchildren, Aura, Sarah, Rachael, Carrie, Brandi, and Lyndsi; four great-grandchildren, Logan, Landen, Baylin, and Maddie; one sister, Nancy Freeman of Anderson, and one brother, Jimmy Marshall of Danville, IL.
She was preceded in death by, her parents; and her husband of 53 years, Donald Long Sylvester.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Evan Lash officiating. Entombment will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Sunday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
