Barbara J. Miles

Barbara J. Miles, 96, Anderson, passed away September 7, 2017 at the Rawlins House in Pendleton after a brief illness. She was born May 29, 1921, in Warren, Ohio, the daughter of the late Russell Everett and Gladys Marie (Bacon) Smith. She received an Associate Degree from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA, and before moving to Anderson she had lived in Toledo, OH for 4 years, Benton Harbor, MI for 16 years dedicating her life to her family. Barbara worked as a unit clerk at St. John’s Medical Center for 16 years retiring in 1985. She was a member of New Horizons United Methodist Church, Victoria Guild at St. John’s Health System and former member of the D.A.R. She is survived by her four children, David Harold Miles of St. Cloud, FL, Roger Lee (Mary) Miles of Morganton, GA, Kevin R. (Stephanie) Miles of Anderson and Cynthia Marie Miles; two grandchildren, Susan (Craig) Lanning of Canton, GA and Elizabeth M. Miles of Pendleton; two great grandchildren, Maryn and Mason Lanning of GA and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold R. Miles in 2007 and one brother and one sister. The family would like to thank a special friend, Belenda Morgan for her friendship to their mother and grandmother. Service will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 16, 2017, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Pastor Brad Hensley officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
