Barbara A. Hankins, 81, Lapel, passed away Friday, December 25, 2020, at her residence in Lapel following an extended illness.She was born on May 7, 1939, to Charles Taylor and Mary (Merry) Taylor.Barbara graduated from Lapel High School in 1957.She was a Homemaker. Barbara loved the outdoors. She also loved, bowling, doing puzzles and spending time with family and her friends. She is survived by her daughter Julie (Chris) Husted of Lapel; brother, Gene Taylor of Florida; son-in-law, John Smith of Anderson; grandchildren; Dustin Husted, Cody (Olivia) Husted, Lindsay (Eric) Sturgeon, and Brittney (Caleb) Hall; great-grandchildren, Wilson, Caroline, and Dexter. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by parents; her husband Gerald "Hank" Hankins; daughter, Carol Smith; brother, Wayne Taylor; and a sister, Charlotte Rizor.A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at Hersberger-Bozell Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel, Indiana with Rev. Neal Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel, Indiana.Visitation will be from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM on Tuesday at the funeral home.Health precautions for the safety of the family and visitors will include wearing face coverings and social distancing.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.Online condolences: www.hersbergerbozell.com
