Barbara Anderson Richardson

Barbara Anderson Richardson passed away February 22, 2011 in Destin, Florida after an extended illness. She was born to Byron and Gladys Neilsen Anderson of Lapel, Indiana on February 20, 1932. She graduated from Lapel High School in 1950 and also Felt and Terrant Business School in Indianapolis, Indiana. She married the love of her life, Dan Richardson, on September 17, 1950. She is survived by her husband, Dan, her son, Mike Richardson (Robin), daughter, Mitzi Richardson, all of Destin, four grandchildren, Shawna Anderson Amonson (Erik), Jason Anderson (Ashley), Maegan Glidden (Ben), Jessica Richardson, and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a very dear and devoted long time friend, Mrs. Jim (Jean) Layton of Lapel Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and sisters, and her son, Mitch Richardson. She and her husband owned and operated Lapel Hardware in Lapel, Indiana for 20 years. Soon after moving to Destin in 1982, they purchased the Ace Hardware on Main Street. The kids followed and soon Ace Hardware of Destin was truly a family business. Their legacy continues as Mitzi now owns the Ace Hardware in Destin and Mike and Robin own the Ace Hardware of South Walton. There will be a memorial service for family only in Destin, Florida and also Lapel per her request.
