Aris Keith Hersberger

Aris Keith Hersberger, 88, Anderson, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at Saint John's Health System in Anderson following an extended illness.
He was born on July 8, 1920, in Madison County, Indiana to Aris Dale and Sharley (Stottlemyer) Hersberger.
He graduated from Lapel High School in 1938. He served in the U. S. Army in the south pacific in WWII and he received 3 bronze stars
Keith retired in 1975 from the former Guide Lamp division of General Motors in Anderson as a foreman in Die Cast after over 34 years of employment.
He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church; a member and past-master of the Lapel Masonic Lodge No. 625 and he received his 50 year Grand Lodge award of gold in 1996 and her served the lodge as chaplain for a number of years; a member of the Anderson York Rite; and a member of the Bartimaeus Lodge U. D. Keith was a Certified Master Gardener and a member of the Pendleton Garden Club. He served as Cub Master of Pack 234 in Lapel in 1960 and was assistant scout master of Troup 234 he also served as a neighborhood commissioner and assistant district commissioner in Big Killbuck District, B. S. A.
He is survived by his wife, Marie (McIntyre) Hersberger; one son, Bruce L. Hersberger of Sevierville, TN; two daughters, Deanna (husband, Richard) Russell of Cincinnatti, OH and Brenda Lee (husband, Merle) McGriff of Gaston; one step-daughter, Cecelia (husband, Jimmy) Lester of Anderson; two sisters, Jean Ann Hinley of Yorktown, VA and Harriet Spearman of Anderson; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Elsie Bernice (Dunn) Hersberger; two sisters, Vivian Williams and Virginia Dillie; and two brothers, Kenneth E. Hersberger, and Dale Junior Hersberger.
Masonic services will be conducted by the Lapel Masonic Lodge at 2:00 pm Friday, June 5, 2009, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel.
Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, Friday, June 5, 2009, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
