Alma May Neese, 96, Indianapolis, formerly of Lapel, passed away Friday, January 30, 2009, at Saint Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis following a sudden illness.
She was born on December 29, 1912, in Orestes, Indiana to William and Hazel (Mills) Meeker.
She graduated from Lapel High School in 1931 and received a bachelors degree from Ball State University.
Alma retired in the late 1970's from Lapel Elementary after over 20 years of employment.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church; Lapel American War Mothers; Lapel Lions Club; and the Lapel School Retired Teachers Club
She is survived by two daughters, Emily (husband, Jim) Sisson of Maplewood, MN, and Beth Neese of Indianapolis; one son, David (wife, Jeanne) Neese of Rosemont, PA; one sister, Jessie Dickerson of Holts Summit, MO; six grandchildren, Jane Sisson of Apple Valley, MN, Julia (husband, Mark) Alness of Duvall, WA, Donna Lynn (husband, Mark) Eliason of Apple Valley, MN, Thomas (wife, Pam) Sisson of Rosemount, MN, Natasha (husband, Tom) Pomparelli of Marlton, NJ, and Geoffrey Neese of Rosemont, PA; and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oral Manfred "Bill" Neese; a daughter, Sandra Neese; and a sister, Mary Meeker Payne.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, February 4, 2009, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Pastor Doug Barton officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday, February 3, 2009, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
