Alice Marie Riley

On May 17, 2016, Alice Marie (McPhearson) Riley went to her eternal home, surrounded by her family. Alice was born March 19, 1940 in Elwood, Indiana the daughter of Melvin “Bud” McPhearson and Bettie Jean (Groover) McPhearson. She was a 1958 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High school.
She is survived by her husband Bud Riley of Arcadia; son Samual Riley of Anderson; daughter Debra (husband Phil) Schneider; grandchildren, Felicia and Kristopher Schneider all of Arcadia; brother and sister, Albert (wife Sheila) McPhearson and Anna Kay Rice all of Elwood; sister-in-law, Dianne Barker of Lapel and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her in-laws; brother, Melvin Groover and her sister-in-law, Sherry McPhearson.
She married William “Bud” Riley June 18, 1958. They enjoyed nearly 58 years of Marriage. Alice was a vital part of a small construction business that she and Bud owned, enduring the challenges of a business office, at the same time raising their family.
Alice became a devoted member of the Cross Roads United Methodist Church. She served as Secretary in the office, was on the finance committee, and worked closely with the pastor in the administration of the church. Alice was very much loved by her church family.
She enjoyed both playing and watching sports, especially those played by her many nephews and grandson, Quinton Rice. She always looked lovely, and carried a tiny little purse which was crammed so full that her cell phone wouldn’t fit in it. We all know where she kept her cell phone. Alice’s favorite color was red.
A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 Noon Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at Cross Roads United Methodist Church, 2000 Scatterfield Road, Anderson, IN with Pastor John Hackney officiating.
Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon on Tuesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, Alice would say, “Please leave a donation for Cross Roads United Methodist Church.
Cremation arrangements were handled by Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory.
