Alice Lucinda "Cindy" Snyder, 94, Pendleton, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017, at Rawlins House in Pendleton following an extended illness.She was born on March 14, 1923, in Marshall County, Iowa to Walter and Ruby (Nichol) Fleming.Cindy was graduated from Garwin High School in 1940 and received teachers certificate from Iowa State Teachers College. She served as a corporal in United States Marine Corps during WWII. She retired from the United States Post Office and had also worked in the Lapel school cafeteria where she served as its first manager. She had served as a substitute teacher at Lapel school and had been a Kindergarten teacher for the summer program.Cindy was a member of the Ford Street United Methodist Church in Lapel where she taught Sunday school for many years and was very involved in the former Christian Service Guild and led the former Otterbein Guild. She was active in the Lapel Band Boosters, the Lapel Rural Garden Club and the PEO Sorority. She and her husband resided in Brown County for 11 years and she was an active member of the Brown County Historical Society and the Nashville United Methodist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Susan (husband, Tom) Tudor and Jackie (husband, David) Stephenson both of Lapel; four grandchildren, Jennifer (husband, Scot) Hawkins of Bedford, Eliza (husband, Lance) Tudor-Sykes of Mountain View, CA; Adam (wife, Dawn) Tudor of Craigville, Christopher (wife, Sarah) Tudor of Kankakee, IL; nine great-grandchildren, Anna and Hadley Hawkins, Cleo and Dexter Tudor-Sykes, Kate and Grant Tudor, and Ethan, Adalynn, and Ella Tudor; one sister, Helen Snyder; a sister-in-law, Linda Snyder; and several nieces and nephews.Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 61 years, William Robert "Bob" Snyder; three grandchildren, Joshua and Joseph Tudor and Emily Stephenson.A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at Ford Street United Methodist Church, 925 Ford Street, Lapel with Pastor Glenn Knepp officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery.Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at Ford Street United Methodist Church, 925 Ford Street, Lapel.Memorial contributions may be made to Ford Street United Methodist Church, P.
