Aaron V. “Rusty” Hastings, 71, of Anderson, passed away February 23, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis after an extended illness.
He was born on July 24, 1944 in Chicago, IL to the late James and Opal (Quackenbush) Hastings. He graduated from Anderson High School and lived most of his life in Anderson.
He retired from Delco Remy after 32 years of service and worked as a realtor and real estate broker for the past 21 years.
Rusty was a member of Madison Park Church of God. He enjoyed Anderson Mainstage Theatre and was known as the “King of Dance” in the late 50’s and 60’s.
He is survived by four daughters, Carmen (husband, Eddie) Taipalus of Brookville, IN, Colette (husband, Kenny) Wyant of Cadiz, Melissa Watts of Anderson and Ashley (fianc�, Brian Noll) Hastings of Anderson; grandchildren, Larry O’Bryant, III, Dustin McPhearson, Brittany Hall, Kreigh Leever, Adreanna Taipalus, Trent Hall, Jr. Shaun Watts and Monica Taipalus; great grandchildren, Hayden, Hayley, Hannah, Little Greg, Kreigh, Jr and Elam; step grandchildren, Amber Noll and Jasmine Noll; step great grandson, Prestyn Merchant; sisters, Kathleen Hastings and Marvetta Hastings both of Anderson and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ricky Hastings and daughter, Emily Spencer Hastings.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2016 at Madison Park Church of God with Pastor Paul Strozier and Ashley Hastings officiating. Burial will be in Harlan Cemetery.
Visitation will be 10:00-1:00 p.m. on Friday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Madison Park Church of God, Central Christian Church The Alley Theatre or Anderson Mainstage Theatre.
