A. Louise Atkinson, 83, of Anderson, passed away January 22, 2015 at Millers Merry Manor in Middletown following a brief illness.
She was born March 8, 1931 in Green County, Tenn., the daughter of Joe and Nellie (Hensley) Shelton. She worked for many years at Pay Less.
Louise was a devoted Christian who was active in several area Church of Christ Churches. She loved being around her family, also gardening, knitting, quilting and crocheting. Louise and her husband loved to travel and attending the lecturing meetings of the church.
The family is grateful for the care that Louise received at the Woodlands at Forest Ridge and for the compassionate care from the staff at Millers Merry Manor in Middletown.
She is survived by her sons, Wayne (Vicky) Atkinson of Losantville, Allen (Anita) Atkinson of Shirley, Eric Atkinson of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Belinda (Wally) Locke, Sarah (Richie) Huckeby, Rachel Spears, Cory Atkinson, Kelly (Jamie) Huffman; 8 great grandchildren; brothers, Odell, Barnabus, Crate, Arlin, Clifford, and Gerald Shelton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Atkinson; brothers, Lester, Fred, Ed, Bluford, and Dennis Shelton; sisters, Wadie French and Lois Hensley.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Minister Mark Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
